Story
Cobram Roar Football Club was established in late 2014 following the merger of Cobram’s two long-standing football clubs — Cobram Soccer Club and Cobram Victory FC. The unification marked a significant moment for the local football community, bringing together players, volunteers, administrators and supporters under one banner to strengthen the sport’s future in the region.
Cobram Soccer Club, founded in 1952, was one of the oldest soccer clubs in country Victoria and carried more than six decades of proud history. Over the years it built a strong multicultural foundation reflective of the Cobram district, contributing greatly to the development of junior and senior football in the area. Cobram Victory FC later emerged as an additional pathway for local players, further expanding participation within the town. By 2014, leaders from both clubs recognised that combining resources, facilities and player bases would provide greater long-term stability and opportunity for growth.
The newly formed Cobram Roar FC adopted fresh club colours, branding and governance structures, symbolising a new era while honouring the traditions of both predecessor clubs. The focus from the outset was on unity, sustainability and junior development.
In 2016, Cobram Roar joined the Albury-Wodonga Football Association (AWFA), entering teams in senior men’s and junior competitions. The move provided a strong competitive platform across the border region of northern Victoria and southern New South Wales. Since joining the league, the club has established itself as a consistent and competitive presence, regularly fielding multiple junior sides and senior teams.
